Communicates with the public and policymakers in regard to Translator/ Interpreter issues. Keeps abreast of legislation, trends, member concerns, and policy issues at the national, state, and local levels. Seeking volunteers from East, Middle, and West Tennessee with experience related to non-profits or people who are well informed and fond of legislation.

Gathers and distributes information to the public via www.tapit.org and the TAPIT TIMES. Also sends mass mailings to members as needed, maintains the TAPIT website – We are seeking computer savvy volunteers and people who are willing to assist with maintaining the membership database, managing event registration, as well as proofread and submit information and articles for the newsletter.

Organizes all aspects of TAPIT’s Annual Conference – we need volunteers to help with logistics, speaker recruitment, promotion, implementation of conference activities, and anybody who is willing to help!
Chairperson: Hernán Silva-Zetina
Identifies, develops, and implements educational training events and programs in addition to the Annual Conference (with specific emphasis on activities for underserved groups, e.g. rare languages and locations, locations outside of Nashville, and advanced training. This committee is seeking volunteers with an interest in training programs and promotion of such events.

The Health Care Committee is primarily concerned with training, credentialing, and/or public registration of qualified healthcare interpreters in the state of Tennessee. The Health Care Committee endeavors to ensure equal access to healthcare interpreter training throughout the state, to increase the number of individuals entering the career, to inform providers and consumers about the value and importance of using a qualified healthcare interpreter in the clinical setting, and to create an easy mechanism by which qualified interpreters and providers can find each other.

Issues concerning translators and interpreters in any language other than Spanish.
Chairperson: Heba Abouelsaad
Actively participates in recruitment and retention of members. Undertakes the creation of a welcome package for new members, supports the Secretary with communications to the members. Seeking volunteers with strong social skills and a gift of gab!

Sends out calls for nominations, disseminates information about nominees, prepares ballots, conducts annual election, and delivers election results. Seeking volunteers for these short-term annual tasks.
